Emergency management is a coordinated and combined effort, involving the Syosset Fire District, The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department, Town, County, State, and Federal agencies as well as our community civic & religious organizations and the business community. Within an integrated emergency management framework, these various entities assist the community to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural, civil, and technological emergencies and disasters.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is charged with identifying hazards and vulnerabilities prior to any disaster event and through communications, planning, public education and mitigation programs that protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Syosset Fire District. The OEM provides a coordination point of Town, County, State and Federal agencies for the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department in response to any disaster incident in an effort to lessen human suffering and speed the process of disaster response & recovery.
