History of Cleveland Fire Department

The Cleveland Fire Department was established in 1961. At the time, the Cleveland community relied on the surrounding departments in Clayton and Smithfield to respond to emergencies in the area. Fourteen members of the community saw a need for a local fire department to protect the Cleveland citizens.

They united together to make their vision a reality starting with collecting donations door to door.

Merry Christmas πŸŽ… πŸŽ„

An eventful Christmas Eve afternoon for our B-Shift crews. Around 3:45 this afternoon Cleveland, 50-210 Fire Department, and Wilson's Mills Fire Department were dispatched to a working mobile home fire. Units arrived on scene at the school grounds of Cleveland High School and found a mobile classroom with heavy fire showing. Crews made a long stretch from the first due engine to the interior of the structure for a quick fire attack. School representatives and a fire marshal were contacted and responded to the scene. Crews remained on scene until 6:00p.m. ... See MoreSee Less

Around 3:30 this morning Cleveland, Clayton Fire Department and Wilson's Mills Fire Department were dispatched to a working structure fire. Engine 3 arrived on scene to report a working fire at a single story wood frame. Clayton Engine 1 secured our water supply from hydrant 200 feet from the structure. Crews on scene operated for about an hour before returning to service.

Thank you mutual aid for you help on this cold morning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, especially this time of the year.

Yesterday evening, Cleveland had the privilege to send an engine with a five man crew to the fire at QVC. Upon our arrival and briefing we were assigned to the Delta side of the structure to set up water supply to two aerial devices, Wake Forest Ladder Co. 1 and Knightdale Ladder 13 as well as an interior push with our Blitz monitor. Crews worked an 12 hour shift assisting with extinguishment. A great effort and hard work from everyone involved. ... See MoreSee Less
